The supercar is a special category of sports car that’s generally built by luxury brands. The term applies to vehicles with aerodynamic and hyper-modern designs, extraordinary performance, responsive handling, and high-quality materials. Although Nissan isn’t a luxury automaker, its GT-R certainly meets the criteria listed above, and then some.

Nissan has called this version the “best GT-R ever,” and it has the enhancements to support such a bold statement. Its aerodynamics, a key performance component, received a boost thanks to its redesigned front and rear ends, a reshaped front grille with updated materials, streamlined bumper sides, and new rear spoiler designs. The T-spec trim has been welcomed back into the fold, complete with a dark Mori Green interior, 20-inch gold aluminum wheels, two reintroduced paint colors (Midnight Purple and Millennium Jade), and kick plates.

The racing-inspired NISMO also has updates for the 2024 model year, including a front limited-slip differential, Recaro leather seats, an Alcantara-appointed steering wheel, a debuting paint color called Stealth Gray, a swan neck spoiler, and restyling across the front lip, canards, and rear diffuser. This trim is also eligible for an available appearance package that features a clear coat on its carbon-fiber hood, red-accented RAYS forged 20-inch wheels, and a unique engine cover.

Trims and Powertrain

The 2024 GT-R lineup contains three trims: Premium, T-spec, and NISMO. The first two grades have all-wheel drive (AWD) with limited-slip differential, a Bilstein DampTronic suspension system, Brembo brakes, hydraulic power-assist steering, and Vehicle Dynamic Control with three driver-selectable modes. The Premium and T-spec have a 3.8-liter V6 engine mated to a dual-clutch 6-speed manual transmission, a combination that can generate up to 565 horsepower and 467 lb.-ft. of torque.

The NISMO name is derived from Nissan’s Motorsports International division. Its special mechanical specs include AWD with a front limited-slip differential, ceramic Brembo brakes, a NISMO-tuned suspension and Vehicle Dynamic Control, a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6, and a 6-speed manual gearbox. The turbochargers work to increase performance to 600 horsepower and 481 lb.-ft. of torque. The EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings for every ‘24 GT-R are 16 mpg in city driving and 22 mpg on the highway.

Standard Features

The Premium’s cockpit has amenities such as leather upholstery with synthetic-suede inserts, heated power-adjustable front seats (8-way driver/4-way passenger), a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, a driver-configurable multi-function display, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a HomeLink universal transceiver, two USB ports, two 12-volt power outlets. Its exterior highlights are Nissan Intelligent Key with remote entry, a gray front grille, a titanium exhaust, a rear-wing spoiler, 20-inch machined wheels with Dunlop SP Sport MAXX high-performance tires, power-folding heated side mirrors, multi-LED headlights with signature lighting, LED daytime running lights, and LED taillights.

T-spec and NISMO Specifics

The T-spec shows off Mori Green upholstery with gold stitching, a quilted Alcantara headliner, T-spec badging, unique kick plates, 20-inch gold RAYS forged aluminum wheels, and two T-spec-specific paint choices: Midnight Purple and Millennium Jade. The NISMO’s interior has a red-and-black design concept with sport-style front bucket seats, Recaro leather upholstery with synthetic-suede inserts, an Alcantara simulated-suede wrapped steering wheel and gauge hood, and a special tachometer. The exterior has an extra-aerodynamic body shape, front fender air outlets, body bonding on key spot welds, 20-inch gold NISMO forged aluminum wheels, and carbon-fiber treatment that spans the front fenders, grille, hood, roof, side sills, trunk, and rear spoiler.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The GT-R’s infotainment system starts with an 8-inch LCD touchscreen and a premium Bose audio system with 11 speakers and dual subwoofers. Its other critical features are Bluetooth wireless phone connectivity and streaming audio, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Navigation is also standard, along with NissanConnect services, SiriusXM Traffic, and SiriusXM Travel Link.
