2025 Nissan ARIYA

After the Nissan LEAF made history as the first mass-market battery-electric vehicle in 2009, it enjoyed years of good sales and recognition. But Nissan wanted to give EV buyers another choice. That alternative is the ARIYA, which was introduced for model year 2023 as a larger and more luxurious electric vehicle with greater range (as much as 289 miles). The ARIYA’s blend of attributes, including standard first- and second-row heated seats, wireless device charging, and a head-up display, put it into a higher class for eco-minded drivers with a bit more in their budget.

The ARIYA’s distinctive look and the option of Nissan’s e-4ORCE all-wheel drivetrain (AWD) add to the model’s appeal. With the available long-range 87 kWh battery, an AWD ARIYA can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in as little as 4.8 seconds. In a change for 2025, wireless device charging is now standard on every trim.

Trims and Powertrains

For 2025, the ARIYA is presented in trims called Engage, Engage+, Evolve, and Platinum. The Engage gets a 63 kWh battery and a front-wheel drivetrain (FWD) and, but it’s eligible for the dual-motor powertrain (one per axle) and e-4ORCE AWD). The “+” suffix on the trim name indicates that it has the 87 kWh battery. The Engage+ comes with AWD, while the Evolve+ gets FWD by default, with all-wheel drive an option. The Platinum+ is made solely with AWD and the larger battery.

As for power output, the FWD Engage puts out 214 hp with a range of up to 216 miles; it makes 335 hp with AWD but the range drops to 205 miles. The AWD-only Engage+ puts out 389 hp, with an average range of 272 miles. The range champion is the FWD Evolve+, which goes an estimated 289 miles on a full charge while generating 238 horsepower. The Evolve+ with AWD boosts output to 389 hp, with a slightly lower range (272 miles). The Platinum+ makes the same 389 hp, with a projected range of 267 miles. As far as miles-per-gallon equivalent (MPGe), the ARIYA’s EPA-estimated range varies from 84 to 109 combined MPGe, depending on the trim/driveline combination.

Using a Level 2 (240-volt) charger takes 10.5 to 14 hours to get the battery from 0% to 100%, while a Level 3/DC fast charger will only need 40 minutes at 130 kW to go from 10% to 80%. The ARIYA can tow as much as 1,500 if it’s equipped with AWD.

Standard Equipment

As we mentioned, Nissan is generous with the ARIYA’s standard features. The base trim, Engage, has proximity keyless entry, wireless device charging, a heated steering wheel, heated front and rear outboard seats, simulated leather upholstery, a power-adjustable (eight ways) driver's seat, driver's position memory, a head-up display, automatic climate control with two zones, push-button start, power-folding heated exterior mirrors, automatic headlights (LED), a 12.3-inch driver information display, four USB ports, a power-sliding center console, and 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with aerodynamic covers. The FWD version will also come with the convenient Divide-N-Hide cargo system.

The Evolve adds to that list with a power liftgate, a digital rearview mirror, a panoramic moonroof, an eight-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. The Platinum+ ramps up the luxury factor with heated and ventilated front seats, Nappa leather upholstery, a hands-free tailgate, a power tilt/telescopic steering column, LED fog lights, side mirrors with reverse tilt-down and integrated LED turn signals, and upgraded interior lighting.

Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology

Every 2025 ARIYA comes with ProPILOT Assist semi-autonomous driving support and Nissan Safety Shield 360. The technologies in this important safety suite are adaptive cruise control, driver alertness monitoring, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, lane intervention, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear automatic braking, front and rear parking sensors, and traffic sign recognition. The Evolve and Platinum+ also get the Intelligent Around-View Monitor, while the Platinum+ alone upgrades to a premium edition of ProPILOT Assist with semi-autonomous parking.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The ARIYA’s large infotainment system dominates the dash with a 12.3-inch touchscreen; it also responds to voice commands. The standard components are navigation, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay (wireless), SiriusXM satellite radio, and the Hello Nissan digital assistant. Access to Wi-Fi hotspot capability and NissanConnect Services is included as well. The Engage and Evolve get a basic sound system with six speakers, but the Platinum+ is graced with a Bose unit with ten speakers.
