2025 Nissan Kicks Preview
For those who may not know, “kicks” is another term for footwear, and Nissan’s design team took this quite literally when redesigning the all-new Kicks. Although its appearance is inspired by the self-expression of sneaker culture, this crossover’s underlying theme is “go big or go home.” The 2025 Nissan Kicks is larger both inside and out, with best-in-class standard cargo space and best-in-class standard ground clearance, not to mention the class-exclusive Intelligent Around View Monitor, which provides a 360-degree camera view of the vehicle’s surroundings. A 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen will be available (the biggest ever for the Kicks), as well as more passenger space and a larger (2.0-liter) engine boasting more horsepower and torque.
The 2025 model year also marks a series of important improvements for the subcompact Kicks. This will be the first time that all-wheel drive (AWD) and ProPILOT Assist semi-automating driving technology are available on this model. Plus, the second row will now come with zero-gravity seats for a level of comfort previously reserved for higher-cost cars. Look for the 2025 Kicks to arrive at Pohanka Nissan of Fredericksburg in late summer.
Trims and Powertrain
Nissan has announced a trio of trim levels to kick off this new Kicks generation: S, SV, and SR. As we mentioned, they’ll be debuting a stronger powerplant: a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that’s expected to produce 141 horsepower and 140 lb.-ft. of torque. The mechanical big picture will be completed with a continuously variable transmission and either standard front-wheel drive or available AWD. Plus, a drive mode selector with Normal, Eco, and Sport settings will be standard on every Kicks (AWD versions will also get Snow mode).
Standard Features
According to Nissan’s preliminary standard equipment lists for the 2025 Kicks, the base-level S will have a 7-inch instrument meter adjacent to a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, cloth upholstery, a USB/auxiliary input, a 12-volt power outlet, Nissan Intelligent Key with push-button start, remote keyless entry system, 16-inch steel wheels, a heated wiper park, and all LED lighting (automatic headlights, daytime running lights, turn indicators, and rear combination lighting). The SV will add gold/gray double stitching to the cloth interior, an expanded 12.3-inch color touchscreen, wireless device charging, and two front USB ports, and 17-inch steel wheels. The Nissan Intelligent Key version in this trim will be improved with walk-away lock and approach unlock. There will also be an optional SV FWD Premium Package containing roof rails, a panoramic sunroof, heated side mirrors, remote start, heated front seats, rear floor heater ducts, illuminated driver and passenger sun visors, a sunglasses holder, and seatback pockets.
The SR will have synthetic leather seating with cloth inserts and contrasted double stitching, automatic temperature control, a 12.3-inch color meter, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, interior ambient lighting, two rear USB ports, roof rails, and 17-inch alloy wheels. This trim will be eligible for the SR Premium Package, which will add a 10-speaker Bose audio system, rain-sensing windshield wipers, heated front seats and steering wheel, rear floor heater ducts, a panoramic sunroof, remote start, heated side mirrors, and a front-central seat-mounted airbag.
Advanced Driver Assistance and Safety Technology
Every ‘25 Kicks will be equipped with driver attention alert, rear door alert, and the Nissan Safety Shield 360 suite (predictive forward collision warning, intelligent emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, rear automatic braking, intelligent cruise control, blind spot warning, and high beam assist). The SR will also get the Intelligent Around View Monitor with moving object detection, ProPILOT Assist, emergency lane keep assist, lane departure prevention, oncoming intersection assist, blind spot intervention, and traffic sign recognition.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The S trim will have a 7-inch infotainment touchscreen, Bluetooth streaming audio and hands-free phone, and a basic sound system. The SV and SR are expected to get all of the multimedia upgrades: a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, Siri Eyes Free, SiriusXM satellite radio, and NissanConnect services. As mentioned, a 10-speaker Bose audio system will be available for the top trim via the SR Premium Package.
