Fast-forward to the 2025 model year, and the second-generation LEAF continues to give its drivers affordable all-electric transportation enhanced with advanced technology like the available ProPILOT Assist semi-autonomous driving system. Nissan upgrades the LEAF ownership experience by including EV Carefree+. This program offers standard scheduled maintenance for 3 years or 36,000 miles, which overlaps with complimentary roadside assistance. In addition to the standard comprehensive bumper-to-bumper and powertrain warranties, Nissan safeguards the LEAF’s lithium-ion battery for eight years or 100,000 miles.
Trims and Powertrains
Nissan offers the front-wheel-drive 2025 LEAF in two trim packages: SV and SV Plus. The SV features a 110-kW electric motor that produces 147 horsepower and an EPA-estimated 149 miles of range. Its 40-kWh lithium-ion battery can charge to 80% via a 50 kW Level 3/DC fast charger in about 40 minutes. The “plus” in the SV Plus is a 160-kW motor with a 60-kWh battery, which brings the range up to 212 miles. Level 3 charging to 80% takes about an hour at 50 kW or 45 minutes at 100 kW. Combined MPGe (miles per gallon equivalent) is 111 for the SV and 109 for the SV Plus. The 2025 LEAF has 23.6 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row.
Standard Features
The LEAF's standard EV-supporting equipment includes e-Pedal, which allows for more energy-efficient one-pedal driving, an illuminated and lockable charge port, aerodynamic underbody panels, a rear spoiler, a 6.6 kW onboard charger, a portable charging cable (120-volt/240-volt), and all-season tires designed for low rolling resistance. The core features for the SV include fabric upholstery, automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, push-button start, automatic headlights, a 7-inch driver information display, a tilt-and-telescopic steering column, power side mirrors, four USB ports, and 16-inch steel wheels with covers.
The SV Plus adds heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a hybrid heater system (for improved cabin comfort), an eight-way power driver's seat, LED headlights, and fog lights. It also gets heated power side mirrors, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a front bumper chin spoiler, and 17-inch aluminum wheels.
Advanced Driver Aids and Safety Technology
Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard with the 2025 LEAF and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, rear automatic braking, automatic high beams, rear parking sensors, cruise control, and a rearview monitor. The SV Plus is upgraded with ProPILOT Assist, a hands-on semi-autonomous driving system with adaptive cruise control, a surround-view monitor, and a driver alertness monitor. Every LEAF also has a full set of airbags along with anti-lock brakes, stability control, traction control, and hill start assist.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The centerpiece of the LEAF's infotainment system is an 8-inch color touchscreen; it can also be controlled using voice recognition. Its essential features are Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, SiriusXM satellite radio, a hands-free text messaging assistant, and a four-speaker audio system. The SV Plus is upgraded with navigation, access to NissanConnect EV services, and a sound system with six speakers.
