2025 Nissan Murano
Model year 2025 brings us the all-new fourth generation Nissan Murano, a model whose design, comfort,
and utility have translated into strong sales since its 2003 debut. This redesign, is marked by
contemporary interior and exterior updates and significantly improved power courtesy of a new
powertrain. It pairs Nissan’s VC-Turbo engine with a conventional nine-speed automatic transmission,
resulting in a significant shift from the previous generation’s V6 engine and continuously variable
transmission (CVT).
The 2025 Murano's five-passenger cabin continues to emphasize advanced
technology and high-grade materials, a notable example being the dual, dashboard-spanning 12.3-inch
displays. The luxurious Platinum trim boasts interior accents inspired by Murano glass, honoring its
namesake Venetian glassworks. Practical improvements such as more second-row legroom, rear doors
that open wider than before, and more developed cargo space make for a better ride experience for
everyone aboard.
The latest technology is another highlight of this new Murano generation. An
expanded array for both safety and connectivity is included on all trims, and the latest version of
ProPilot Assist is available. In that vein, the infotainment system in the two higher trims
integrates Google built-in, providing a familiar smartphone-style user interface and simple access
to popular applications.
Trims and Powertrains
The latest Murano offers trims called SV, SL, and Platinum. Each of them has a 241-horsepower
turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that uses Nissan’s variable compression (VC) technology to
optimize both power and efficiency. A nine-speed automatic transmission rounds out the
powertrain.
The SV gets a front-wheel drivetrain (FWD) by default, but all-wheel drive (AWD) is
optional. The SL and Platinum are made solely with AWD. Regardless of drivetrain or trim level, the
Murano returns EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings of 21 mpg city and 27 mpg highway. With the second row
seats in use you’ll have 32.9 cubic feet of cargo space in the rear, which nearly doubles to 63.5 cubic
feet when those seats are folded down. The Murano can tow up to 1,500 pounds when it’s outfitted with
the proper equipment.
Included Features
The SV has remote start, proximity keyless entry, faux leather upholstery, wireless smartphone charging,
four USB ports, heated seats in the first row, a power-adjustable (10 ways) driver's seat, heated
power-adjustable exterior mirrors, a power-adjustable (six ways) front passenger seat, two automatic
climate-control zones, auto-on/off LED headlights, LED taillights, variable intermittent windshield
wipers with de-icer, a 12.3-inch configurable driver information display, a power liftgate, rear privacy
glass, a 12-volt outlet (cargo area), and 20-inch alloy wheels.
At the next level, the SL adds a
heated steering wheel, Murano glass-inspired interior accents, a panoramic moonroof with a power shade,
a driver's position memory system, power lumbar controls for the driver’s seat, sound-reducing front
window glass, power exterior mirrors with reverse tilt-down and integrated turn signals, ambient
interior lighting with configurable colors, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Amenities such as
heated and ventilated front seats with massage and quilted semi-aniline leather upholstery help the
Platinum earn its name. It also receives a head-up display, rain-sensing windshield wipers, heated rear
outboard seats, a 12-way power driver’s seat, a ten-way power front passenger seat, a motion-activated
rear liftgate, power-folding heated exterior mirrors, rear door sunshades, and 21-inch wheels.
Safety Technology and Advanced Driver Aids
Every 2025 Murano has the Nissan Safety Shield 360 technology suite, consisting of adaptive cruise
control, automatic high beams, automatic emergency braking with obstruction detection, forward collision
warning, blind-spot warning and intervention, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane
intervention, lane-keeping assist, and rear automatic braking. Front and rear parking sensors, a rear
door alert, a driver alertness monitor, and traffic sign recognition are also found on all
trims.
Nissan’s Intelligent Around-View Monitor is standard on the two higher trims. It comes
with an Invisible Hood View mode that helps with navigating around curbs, car wash runners, and the
like. The SV gets the standard version of ProPilot Assist, which simplifies long highway drives with
adaptive cruise control and steering assist; the SL and Platinum move up to the upgraded version with
navigation data-based speed control.
Entertainment and Connectivity
A 12.3-inch touchscreen is the center of the Murano’s infotainment system, incorporating wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The SL and Platinum move to a Google built-in version that adds Google Assistant, Google Maps, and other heavily used mobile apps. Those trims get voice-recognition navigation, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and access to NissanConnect services (subscription based).
