2025 Nissan Versa
There aren’t many new cars with an MSRP below $20,000, but the Nissan Versa is one of them. This no-nonsense subcompact sedan also maintains its status as one of the few new models still offered with a manual transmission. It’s a smart choice for car buyers who find themselves on a tight budget but would still like to take the brand-new route over preowned.
Besides returning highway fuel economy up to 40 miles per gallon, the sharp-looking Versa provides serious value with Bluetooth, LED headlights (new for 2025), and a bundle of standard driver-assist technologies via Nissan Safety Shield 360. It’s even more attractive now that Nissan Maintenance Care – good for three complimentary oil changes over 2 years or 24,000 miles – has been added.
Trims, Powertrain, and Fuel Efficiency
There are three Versa trim levels for 2025: S, SV, and SR. Their efficient-minded powertrain consists of a 122-horsepower 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and a continuously variable transmission (CVT) – although buyers of the base S can go old-school with the five-speed manual transmission. As mentioned above, this front-wheel-drive four-door is a fuel-efficiency star, as all trims with the CVT have been rated by the EPA to return 32 mpg in city driving and 40 mpg highway. The S trim equipped with the manual tranny carries EPA ratings of 27 mpg city/35 mpg highway.
Standard and Available Features
Those who choose the Versa S will get everything they need, with cloth upholstery, LED headlights, air conditioning, a trio of USB ports, a 12-volt power outlet, cruise control, and 15-inch steel wheels with covers. Nissan offers the optional S+ Package to make this base trim even more appealing with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a 60/40-split folding rear seatback.
The SV builds its equipment list with proximity keyless entry, wireless phone charging, push-button ignition, a 7-inch multi-information display, a 60/40-split folding rear seatback, and 16-inch alloy wheels. The top-ranking SR’s upgrades consist of remote start, heated front seats, sport cloth upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic climate control (one zone), heated exterior mirrors with built-in turn indicators, and 17-inch wheels. All three Versa trims are eligible for the optional auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink.
Safety and Driver-Assist Features
As a safety-minded automaker, Nissan installs its Safety Shield 360 driver-assist bundle in every ’25 Versa. This version consists of automatic high beams, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, reverse automatic braking, and lane departure warning. The SR and SV also receive a driver attention monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot warning. Only the SR gets adaptive cruise control.
Connectivity and Entertainment
The default infotainment system in this latest Versa has a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming, and a sound system with four speakers. The SV and SR are set up with smartphone compatibility (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), but S can only get that feature when the elective S+ Package has been added. As the topmost trim level, the SR gets a slew of upgrades: an 8-inch touchscreen, integrated navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, Wi-Fi hotspot access, and a total of six speakers.
