2026 Nissan Armada NISMO Preview

SUV enthusiasts looking for a cavernous and capable speciman have appreciated the Nissan Armada since its introduction in 2004. Built on the same platform as the Titan full-sized pickup truck, it has always been an undeniable choice for drivers seeking size and strength in a family vehicle. But model year 2026 will bring something new to the Armada: its first NISMO edition. NISMO, the short-form name of Nissan’s Motorsports division, graces specialized models of the brand’s sports cars, the GT-R and the Z, with heightened performance and features. The thought of that concept applied to a full-sized SUV is tantalizing – and perhaps long overdue. On this page, we offer a look into what to expect from the first-ever Nissan Armada NISMO.

Performance and Capability

Like the other Armada trims, the NISMO version will have Nissan’s 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6. But while the other trims get 425 horsepower out of this engine, NISMO tuning will boost that number to 460, with the same torque output of 516 lb.-ft. (premium fuel is recommended). This boost is achieved via recalibration of engine management systems and a reduction in exhaust back pressure, pleasing the lucky driver with extra responsiveness and increased enjoyment. A nine-speed automatic transmission will be standard, but buyers will be able to choose between rear-wheel and four-wheel drive. Knowing that most Armada NISMO drivers will use this beast for towing, Nissan will equip this vehicle with factory components for towing (with a capacity of 8,500 pounds).

Amenities and Style

No matter which Armada trim you choose, you’ll get a long list of desirable features. But the Armada NISMO will have its own collection of amenities, starting with a seven-passenger layout marked by massaging 12-way power front seats and a pair of extra-comfortable captain’s chairs in the middle row. NISMO-specific leather upholstery in a charcoal shade with contrasting red Ultrasuede panels will define the interior. Look for NISMO to be embroidered on the headrests as well. Some other treats to be found in the Armada NISMO will be a heated steering wheel, a power tilt/telescopic steering column, wireless device charging, a panoramic dual-paned moonroof, a digital rearview mirror, a 14.3-inch driver information display, six USB ports, and a hands-free tailgate for accessing the generously sized cargo area. The sculpted and confident exterior appearance will be enhanced with LED lighting (including fog lamps) and aerodynamic features such as air curtains, a front splitter, and a rear diffuser.

Safety Tech

Nissan has long had a significant role in innovating driver-assist technology, and that will certainly continue with the Armada NISMO. It will come with ProPILOT Assist 1.1 (with an available upgrade to the 2.2 version), the HD Enhanced Intelligent Around View Monitor, and the full array of driver aids, including intelligent cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and rear automatic braking.

Infotainment

At its heart, the Armada is a family vehicle, and as such it will be filled with connectivity features so that everyone can stay connected and entertained during the drive. The Armada NISMO is expected to have a Google built-in system with a 14.3-inch touchscreen that’s among the largest in the segment. The system’s components will include navigation, wireless smartphone connectivity supporting both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and Bluetooth hands-free phone and audio streaming. Access to a 5G Wi-Fi hotspot, NissanConnect services, and SiriusXM satellite radio will be standard as well. A 600-watt Klipsch sound system with a dozen well-situated speakers will take care of audio duties.
