Rogue PHEV

Nissan has big news for 2026, as they’re about to release their first-ever plug-in hybrid vehicle in North America. The Rogue PHEV will assume the title of the highest-powered vehicle to wear the Rogue badge, replacing the standard model’s 1.5-liter engine with a 2.4-liter powerplant coupled to a dual-motor electric drive unit, resulting in an additional 47 horsepower and 107 lb.-ft. of torque. Nissan’s inaugural PHEV will match its power with efficiency, returning up to 64 MPGe and an estimated range of 420 miles. But the benefits won’t stop there: the introduction of a third-row seat will add even more versatility to the Rogue formula and move it squarely into the family vehicle category, without the higher fuel consumption typical of a full-sized three-row SUV. Nissan’s designers have given the exterior a fully modern look led by LED lighting, complementing the upscale interior focused on comfort and connectivity.

Powertrain and Performance

The Rogue PHEV will come solely with an all-wheel drivetrain. Its electric drive unit will join forces a 2.4-liter engine with a 20-kWh battery, creating 248 horsepower and 332 lb.-ft. of torque. A single-speed reduction gear transmission will complete the powertrain. The automaker estimates up to 64 total system MPGe and a 420-mile driving range per full tank, with 38 miles of purely electric range and fuel economy reaching 26 mpg (combined city and highway) under regular hybrid operation. Nissan has said there will be three powertrain settings – EV, Series, and Parallel – that will control how the battery and engine work together to distribute power. The electric drive unit will have three settings of its own: EV Mode for low speeds and short distances, Save Mode for longer highway trips, and Charge Mode for recharging on the go using e-Step regenerative braking. Drivers will have seven drive modes to choose from: Normal, Power, Eco, Tarmac, Gravel, Snow, and Mud.

Features, Design, and Amenities

Nissan has revealed a simplified lineup consisting of just the base SL and the generously equipped Platinum. SL buyers can expect a power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar support, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, a configurable 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless smartphone charging, dual front and rear USB ports, dual 120-volt AC power outlets, and acoustic-laminated glass. For the more elegant Platinum, Nissan is touting quilted leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats with memory, a panoramic moonroof, a heated steering wheel, tri-zone climate control, a 10.8-inch head-up display, heated rear seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, rear-window sunshades, and aluminum accents for the Platinum. Thanks to its three rows, the Rogue PHEV will seat up to seven occupants. When the third row isn’t needed, it can be folded flat to increase cargo space from 12.8 to 30.8 cubic feet. Slim LED headlights, oversized LED fog lights, and a redesigned grille will define the front end. New line-patterned taillights will grace the rear, along with a hands-free, motion-activated power liftgate with height memory. Power-folding heated side-view mirrors with integrated LED turn indicators and 20-inch black-painted alloy wheels should be standard, while the Platinum will likely upgrade to memory side-view mirrors with reverse-tilt-down and roof rails.
