A decade after Nissan debuted its compact crossover SUV, which it calls the Rogue, the automaker introduced a sportier, more exciting variant to the North American market for the 2018 model year. This version is known as the Rogue Sport. Halfway through the 2018 model year—similar to what it did for the regular Rogue in 2017—Nissan made some significant updates to provide a “2018.5” model. The ride is still available as an S, SV, and SL trim.

Performance

Powering the 2018.5 Nissan Rogue Sport is a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder (I4) engine, which produces 141 horsepower and 147 lb-ft of torque. It is glued to a continuously variable transmission, which provides a smoother and more efficient drive due to lack of gear shifting. With its front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout, the Rogue Sport provides a fuel economy measured at 25 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway.

Interior

A two-row vehicle, the 2018.5 Nissan Rogue Sport can fit up to five people. Passenger volume is measured at 96 cubic feet and cargo space is measured at 22.9 cubic feet. The vehicle has a storage system called Divide-N-Hide®, which is added on the SV and SL and is located on the floor behind the rear seatback. Standard comfort and convenience features on the 2018.5 Nissan Rogue Sport include Bluetooth® wireless technology for audio streaming and hands-free phone operation, the Siri® Eyes Free virtual assistant, remote keyless entry, hands-free text messaging, four-speaker audio with AM/FM radio and a single-disc CD player, a three-month trial subscription to SiriusXM® satellite radio, a USB port and audio jack for connecting devices, and a 5-inch color multi-information screen for reducing distraction when driving (Advanced Drive-Assist® Display). The SV trim is spruced up with dual-zone automatic climate control, 8-way power adjustability and power lumbar support on the driver’s seat, six speakers (instead of four), and a smart key system (Nissan Intelligent Key®) with push-button engine ignition. Exclusive to the SL are leather upholstery, front-seat and steering-wheel heating ability, intelligent cruise control, remote engine start with intelligent climate control, and a 7-inch color touchscreen.

Safety

Standard safety and security features of the 2018.5 Nissan Rogue Sport include a rearview camera, electronic stability and traction control, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, six airbags, and a theft-deterrent system that combines remote keyless entry with engine immobilization. Automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert are now standard. On the SL, the rearview camera is supplanted by a more advanced, 360-degree-viewing one, which includes moving object detection.
