As of the 2018 model year, the Titan and the Frontier serve as Nissan’s twin offering of pickup trucks. While American ones have been the more popular trucks for several decades, the Titan and the Frontier nevertheless are presented as choices worth considering if you need something that blends off-road capability with everyday commuting. Neither feel too bulky or intimidating, with the Titan classified as a full-size vehicle and the Frontier functioning as mid-size. As products of the same automaker and vehicles belonging to the same class, the 2018 Titan and the 2018 Frontier have the following in common:

Performance

The 2018 Nissan Titan and the 2018 Nissan Frontier have powertrain components that are designed to make them perform efficiently on any driving surface or in any weather condition. The Titan relies on a huge, sturdy 5.6-liter V8 with 390 horsepower and 394 lb-ft of torque. It is glued to a 7-speed transmission. The significantly smaller Frontier does fine with a 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine, which pumps out 152 horsepower and 171 lb-ft of torque. However, if you crave more power, you can go with the available 4.0-liter V6 engine, which provides 261 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque. Also, you have a choice between a 5-speed manual transmission, a 6-speed manual transmission, and a 6-speed automatic transmission. On both vehicles, you can choose between a rear-wheel drivetrain, which established a better weight distribution from front to back (since the engine is placed in the front); and a four-wheel drive with a switch-operated two-speed transfer case for improving traction control ability.

Towing Ability

More than most type of vehicles, if not all, trucks are normally designed to be able to tow thousands of pounds. This ability makes them ideal to use for pulling along trailers or boats. On the larger Titan, you’d need to equip the truck with a rear-wheel drivetrain for it to tow up to 9,740 lbs. On the Frontier, a four-wheel-drive system with an automatic transmission enables it to achieve a maximum towing capability of 6,450 lbs.

Features

Unlike most trucks, the 2018 Nissan Titan and the 2018 Nissan Frontier do not skimp on too many standard comfort and convenience features. Indeed, the Frontier actually gets additions for this model year. A rearview camera and Bluetooth® wireless technology for hands-free phone operation and audio streaming are now standard, in addition to others such as hands-free text messaging ability, a single-disc CD player with MP3 and WMA playback ability, and AM/FM radio. A 5-inch color display and Siri® Eyes Free for voice commands are added on the Titan. On either truck, you can upgrade with options such as HomeLink® for remote garage-door control, remote engine start and keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, a three-month SiriusXM® satellite radio subscription, a navigation system, and a larger color display (5.8 or 7 inches).
