Compact and efficient, the 2018 Nissan Versa enters the market with a starting price of just more than $12,000. Having a slightly larger body, the 2018 Toyota Corolla is priced at over $18,000. Running on the Xtronic CVT, the Versa is more dynamic than this Toyota. Both vehicles have four-cylinder engine blocks that are powered by gasoline. Overall, the Versa offers more value in entry-level amenities that are designed for families.

Interior

Cloth upholstery covers the seats and door trims in the 2018 Nissan Versa. Silver accents enhance the dashboard, gear lever, steering wheel and vents. A touch of chrome adds extra appeal to the interior door handles and central HVAC vents. The Fine Vision electroluminescent gauges introduce some modern utility and style to the cockpit. This compact Nissan model is compatible with the Integrated Key that allows convenient entry. A rear window defroster, foldable assist grips and sun visors with extensions are some other standard amenities that are installed in the Versa. A single-touch function makes it easy to open and close the driver's side window. All of the doors also lock automatically after you or other passengers exit the vehicle. Some of the Toyota Corolla models have the signature SofTex seats, a three-spoke steering wheel and other entry-level amenities. However, the Versa offers more basic amenities at much more affordable prices.

Exterior

Cayenne Red is a hot exterior color that's available for the 2018 Nissan Versa. You can also customize this compact car with Deep Blue Pearl, Super Black, Gun Metallic and other premium finishes. Some of the 2018 Toyota Corolla's paint options include Barcelona Red Metallic, Blue Crush Metallic and Black Sand Pearl. When inspecting the exterior profile of the Versa, you'll notice some minor features that are optimized for aerodynamics. For example, the 0.288 drag coefficient ensures optimum fuel economy and stability at fast speeds. This lightweight Nissan has air deflectors above the front and rear tires to further reduce drag and increase stability. A rear spoiler with integrated LED lights is installed on the Nissan Versa. A touch of chrome is applied to the multi-reflector halogen headlights, front grille and door handles. The Corolla simply doesn't offer as many exterior styling options at comparable prices.

Handling

A five-speed manual transmission system is standard in the 2018 Nissan Versa base trim. The other models run on the signature Xtronic CVT that delivers instant changes in gears based on real-time demand. Patented by Nissan, this transmission is superior to Toyota's Continuously Variable Transmission with intelligence and Shift Mode (CVTi-S). Both cars roll on a front-wheel drive (FWD) that receives 100 percent of torque from the CVT. Equipped with the Brake Assist, the Versa comes to a smooth stop in emergency situations. Additionally, this versatile car has speed-sensitive power steering.
